When Dennis made his debut for Town at the age of 18 years and 28 days, he became the youngest player ever to have worn the blue shirt for Town, breaking the 19 year old record held by Jack Hays who made his debut as a teenager for Town in February 1937. Dennis held the record until 1964 when Trevor Smith made his debut, four DAYS younger than Dennis had been when he made his debut! The record is currently held by Jason Dozzell who was 16 years and 57 days old when he made his debut in February 1984.

Dennis strated his football days in the Ipswich and District League with Landseer Boys in the 50`s and finished it in the same league. He was a member of the all conquering Cranes Sports side that won the IDL in 1974/75.
