| U remember Jimmy Robertson crossing the North London divide by going from Spurs to Arsenal in a swap deal that ionvolved David Jenkins going in the opposite direction. Remember him at Portman Road and Stoke City after leaving Highbury. He came originally from near where I stay, as I remember him stating in an article on him in the old Topical Times that he attended Lourdes Secondary in the Cardonald area of Glasgow, I am based in Corkerhill on Glasgow's south side approximately one and a half miles from the school that Jimmy attended. I met a brother of his in 1981 attending a local Junior football fixture between Benburb and St.Anthony's at Tinto Park in Govan and oddly enough I was introduced to him by a guy called Wullie Robertson, who was not related to them. I do remember him at St.Mirren before going to Spurs, as the Saints had Jimmy and Tommy Robertson, as their respective wingers, however, I do not recall his time at Cowdenbeath before playing down Paisly way and what happened to him since leaving The Potteries. | As I kid I can still remember the days chanting "Give it to Jimmy" and the sight of him tearing down the wing. I just want to thank him for those great and happy memories.

| I couldn`t resist your question: "Did you go to school with him?" Yes, I went to school with Jimmy Robertson and we were close pals from ages 5-15. We played in the same good school teams, where I was the captain and Jimmy was the star, though not the only one to go professional. We lost touch sometime after he left Glasgow for Middlesborough, his first club. I have super memories of his speed and skill, his fiesty and competitive spirit, and his ability to take hold of a game and win it. He didn`t ever lose that. I had many a vicarious thrill when Jimmy would electrify a crowd, score critical goals, or play for his country. The years pass, life goes on, but some things stay with you. Thanks for the memory!
