Limbricht (Limbricht Lads): For the boys of v.v.limbricht (NL) he is a legend! (2008-03-05)

Patrick (Fortuna Sittard): `Mr Kamikaze` joined Dutch premier league outfit Fortuna Sittard in 1985 and scored 20 in his first season at the club. Because of his attitude on the pitch, he became the most popular player ever to play for the Yellow Green Army. To date, he is stil more popular than i.e. Mark van Bommel (now Bayern Munich), who came from our academy and made it big in internaitonal football. Our academy, by the way, brought a couple of players to int`l football: Bouma (Villa), Ricksen (ex Rangers), Hofland (Feyenoord). His 2nd season was less successful, scoring only 5 goals that year, but the crowd still loved him. A couple of months into his 3rd season, he had a rout with the new manager and was transferred to Swiss outfit FC Zurich. In 1988, he came back briefly to get us out of relegation troubles and he succeeded, even though he only scored three. The first one was the most memorable: away to NEC Nijmegen he came on after 85 mins, punched a defender in the face with his elbow (defender lost 3 teeth as a result) and then scored the winning goal. We`ve never seen anyone like him again... In the meantime, we are struggling in the first division and when things don`t go too well, the crowd still chants: "There`s only one Johnny Linford". Says enough, doesn`t it? (2007-11-09)

Tim Hodge (Ipswich Town): I found a wrong bit of information about John Linford, he played for the reserves in season 1984 / 85 but on this web site it say`s that he left to move to Colchester U.t.d. in January 1983 (2007-09-09)

Dutchy (Fortuna Sittard): He played two periods (a total of three seasons) for Fortuna Sittard in The Netherlands and is the number 8 most popular player ever of that club. I think he has also played for FC Luzern. (2007-02-07)

Anonymous: John is the owner of the marlborough arms p.h in norwich (2004-01-19)
