A Ross: Danny today - Feb 2010 - http://www.greenun24.co.uk/content/greenun/sport/football/championship/ipswich-town/story.aspx?brand=ESTOnline&category=SportITFC&tBrand=ESTOnline&tCategory=xDefault&itemid=IPED12%20Feb%202010%2015%3A52%3A06%3A500 (2010-02-12)

A Ross: Played for Clacton Town in 1976 whilst a football coach at Butlins. (2009-09-09)

kevin morley (celtic): have not seen my uncle danny since i was little boy.heard lot about him.he is brother of my mother.i lived in coatbridge but now in london.maybe see you again one day uncle danny.hail hail. (2008-11-29)

Barry Pepper (Bolton Wanderers): I saw Danny make his league debut at Burnden Park for Ipswich.Unfortunately for him Bolton won 6 v 0.I remember Gordon Taylor, now of PFA fame, scored 2 goals. I was Personnel Manager at Butlins Clacton in 1980 and he sent in an application for a job as a Kitchen assistant but when I saw his previous employment record on the application I sent it to Entertainments dept who recruited him as Football coach for the kids and he really shone at that.He also judged staff competitions for me along with Colin Milburn, the England cricketer and played for the Butlins Managers team.I hope you are keeping well Danny.all the best. (2008-06-12)

Barrie john Nicholls: I was redcoat compere butlins clacton 1977 Danny was a good friend and a very good football coach also captain clacton FC I wish you all the best Danny  (2008-04-04)

Jeff Long : I played football with Danny at Butlins Clacton he was in our redcoat 5 a side team 77/78,he was a great player with his help we won the league both years. He also played for Clacton town fc. (2008-03-21)

Thomas Kane (Celtic/Albion Rovers): We lived next door to the Hegan family and Danny was a hero to us. He would come home in the summer and play football with us in the street and the back garden, he taught me how to "nutmeg" an opponent. He was a real Greenend/Coatbridge man, and I wish him all the best. (2008-03-04)

mick sawyer (wolves): i used to live near him in fordhouses in wolverhampton,he was alright for wolves but he liked the bottle a bit too much. (2008-01-22)

owen mcauley: I was at school with danny at st mary's whifflet . Although the school did not have a team at that time we still knew who the good one's where Danny was not the only future proff in that class, Pat gardner was an other but achieved less  (2007-12-03)

Tim Hodge (Ipswich Town): When Danny Hegan joined Ipswich Town from Sunderland the fee was £10,000 (2007-11-04)

james hamill (celtic): Played in All Saints primary school team with Danny, even then we all knew he would become a professional.went to Celtic Park with Davie Doyle and Danny Irvine(names im sure he,ll remember) to cheer him on playing for lanarkshire schools. All the best(haegy),he hated this nickname. James.  (2006-10-13)

Michael McKenna (Celtic): Coming from Greenend in Coatbridge just like Danny, I remember fondly how excited my fater and I would get when Danny was on the television. "Ah you can`t beat a Greenend man" was always belted out. However I`ll never forget the Big smile on his face the night I brought Danny home after a night on the town, Ma Da just couldn`t wait to make him a wee cupa and start blethering, after I played Danny Boy on the Piano of course! You`ll never forget that Wee Man. All the best Danny, hope you are doing fine. Michael McKenna. (2006-09-18)

michael donnelly (celtic.fc): danny is my uncle and is living in birmingham close to the city centre.great crack and has never changed danny was up in scotland recently and is looking magic. (2006-08-19)

John McInnes: Danny Hegan was a player I always admired, clever and combative. I saw him in the late 70s a few times when he was working behind the bar in a fairly louche pub at the southern end of Tower Bridge called The Copper Kettle. I always thought it was a shame he didn`t work in the Anchor Tap which was where we used to drink. Ipswich could certainly do with a player of his drive and vision now!  (2006-08-12)

Stuart Woodward: My childhood footballing hero beside Eddie Spearritt. I met Danny in the 70s when he was working as a football coach at Butlins Holiday Camp in Clacton! (2002-12-23)
