The match report shows Ken Malcolm playing in the Number 2 Shirt. Ken Played the Match Before in which Basil did not Hull City 04/09/54 Source The Men Who Made The TOWN The Official History Of Ipwich Town F.C. from 1878 P.S. Great Web Site (2007-06-03) Laura Spalding: I am Basil`s grandaughter. He was a wonderfull man and always had time for me and my brother and sister. It was devastating when he died but, would always tell stories about when he played. I am the proudest grand daughter in the world. Would be great if i could have natasha`s e-mail. Loved to talk to her (2007-02-21) David Bull (Ipswich): An extract from a letter written by Basil Acres on 12/02/93; "...my most memorable moment in football was when Ipswich (Third Division South) played Birmingham City (Leaders of the First Division), in the fourth round of the FA Cup and beat them 1 - 0, together with a memory of playing Southampton and beating them 2 - 1 in the last game of the 1958 season. This result made us Division III champions and took us up to Division II and the scorer of the winning goal was none other than myself. The saddest time of my career was having played Manchester United in the FA Cup and losing 3 - 2 and learning of the terrible disaster in Munich when all that team of Manachester United were killed just 10 days after we played them..." (2006-12-01) Andy Button (Ipswich ): Died 2000. (2006-05-22) Natasha Acres (Ipswich): Basil was my great Uncle. He died a few years back but I remember him well for his great sense of humour - and being able to get us in behind the scenes when he worked at Ipswich Town F.C.!! He was very modest about his football times and so I was shocked to learn from your site that he played for Ipswich for 9 years. However from what I remember he loved the club and enjoyed working there after his playing career ended. (2003-06-29) Player Pictures
