| Albert Day was a guest player in the season 1944 / 45 before signing for us on a permanent basis in May 1946. He left us for Watford in June 1949 (not August 1949) on a free transfer. After he played for Watford, he played for Folkestone, Ashford Town and Crawley. Tim Hodge 29-12-2012 |

Great site!
Been looking through some old U's records over the last few months, and just wonder whether Albert Day is the same person as U's striker Tally Day? Unfortunately, I have no record of Tally Day's birthday or birthplace with which to assist however, I believe Tally is a variation of Albert.
More to the point, the timeline fits in. Tally made his debut for the U's against Aldershot Reserves on 17th November 1937 with his last on 11th April 1946 against Chelmsford City. In his one and only 'real' season with the U's he scored eleven goals in just eleven games. If the two were the same, Tally would have been 19 when he played for the U's, and therefore, 27 when he made his debut for Ipswich.
He may not be anything to do with Town's Albert Day, but there it is so co-incidental that I think that they must be one and the same.
