Paul Allen: Steve and I grew up in the same part of Bristol, and played football and cricket on Horfield Common when very young (c.1950.) Later we both played a couple of seasons for Bristol Boys cricket team (c.1958 ?)In 1971 I was married and moved to Nailsea with my wife Sue, and guess whom our neighbours were in Pound Lane ?! Steve was then about to leave City and move to Exeter. We played squash together for a couple of years at Aston Court Country Club. He returned to the UK with Dot and the girls, shortly after signing for Perth Pumas (?)and we had a reunion in one of the nailsea pubs.He was a fine footballer and cricketer, a true sportsman and friend. We miss him. How do we contact him now (Nyoongar Sports ?) (2008-12-15)

Lee Parker (Sneyd Park): I can remember when I was a young boy, about 14 years old I joined Sneyd Park FC who played in the Downes league in Bristol, there was a very young useful winger called Steve Stacey playing, I only saw him on a couple of occasions, when I asked where he was I was told he had signed for Bristol City, I believe Sneyd recieved a small fee. (2008-01-23)

Anorak (Ipswich): After a short loan period Stacey was transferred to Bristol City in October 1970. Town had asked for a fee of £7,000 but this was reduced by an FA enquiry to £5,500. (2006-12-05)

Ben E Bean (Ipswich Town): I saw his (nightmare)debut...and it never got better or happened for him at Ipswich after that, looked out of his depth. Prob a nice grandpa though !!! (2006-10-26)
