Tim Hodge (Ipswich town): When Arnold Muhren was brought from FC Twente there was a fee of £150,000 and when he left to join Man U.t.d. he joined him on a free transfer (2006-10-10)

Michael Rosenthal (Ipswich Town): To read your correspondents above brings back happy if poingnant memories. Arnold Muhren was one of the best players in a side which it was a privilege to watch. (2006-08-30)

Bob (Ipswich): A brilliant player. A great left foot. Inch perfect delivery. His sweeping passes complented the tight dribbling Thijssen - who was so one footed, he`d spin round in circles, and emerge stooping with the ball. He played in Town`s magnificent 79-81 team: Cooper, Burley, Mills, Thijssen, Osman, Butcher, Wark, Muhren, Mariner, Brazil, Gates. Sub McCall They WALKED the ball into the net. Took English football to new hieghts in 1980. Brian Glanville at the time, writing in the Sunday Times said Ipswich played a breed of football hitherto not seen on these shores (incl. Liverpool). They suffocated their opponents with passing and movement. Their style was similar to the raking skills of Arsenal and Chelsea today. It was a shame that Beattie was perpeptually injured in that time. And a shame that their squad wasn`t large enough to cope with a full season and four cups. Oh and talking of centre halves: Alan Hunter. He`d win it, dribble out of danger, then boot it into row z!  (2005-02-02)
