Our commentsNone Your commentsPhilip Vye (bournemouth): I was born and bred in the same town as Dave, had my first school holiday job washing up in a restaurant where daves sister in law was a waitress, went to school with his nephew (a handy footballer) but gained more notoriety by having photos published in "readers wives" section of a top shelf mag. His other nephew has been to Thailand (where I live) for a few holidays but fortunately for him he forgets to bring a camera. Dave is now living in South Africa and his nephew is on the case to get tickets for the 2010 World Cup. (2008-10-10) Steve Leah (Blackpool): david Best works at Wareham, Westwind Air Bearings as Transport manager , I was Catering manager there , he is a top guy always having a laugh and joke , a real freindly bloke (2008-05-18) douglas smy (ipswich): always asolid goalie fly through air lke acat.funny moments every home game we kept hin informed of the time.he would point 2 his wrist and we tell him the time (2008-03-26) Mark Tait (Powtsmarff): David Best lived next door to me when he was playing for Pompey. He was a really nice bloke, and used to practise on the grass outside our houses with his kids taking pot-shots. He was still very agile and very quick, and not many got past him. I can't imagine any footballer doing that sort of thing nowadays - they would be behind locked gates with tons of security - those were the days! (2007-12-02) Tim Hodge (Ipswich Town): When David Best moved to Ipswich Town from Oldham Athletic the fee was £25,000 (2007-10-21) Pringle Fissler: Managed Dorchester Town in the 90’s followed by Wareham Rangers of the Dorset Combination League. (2006-03-29) Phil (Ipswich): Bestie was between the sticks for Town for my very first Blues home game. Despite being a considerable time back I still remember being amused by the North Stand chant of 'E for B and David Best'. Apparently there was an Egg Marketing Board TV advert at the time, featuring MUFCs George Best, and the jingle 'E for B and Georgie Best'. Guess you had to be there! (2003-10-13) Player Pictures
