Bailey's late equaliser rescues precious point for Addicks
Nick Bailey’s late equaliser, Charlton’s first in seven hours and 20 minutes
on their travels, claimed a precious point.
Boss Alan Pardew rightly praised Nicky Weaver’s heroic contribution after
the goalkeeper’s first-half error gifted Ipswich a 37th minute lead.
Weaver allowed Owen Garvan’s inswinging free-kick to sneak in at the far
post and Pardew said: “Nicky should have come for it.
'I told him at half-time that it wasn’t good enough for a man of his calibre.
'I got the reaction I was hoping for – he was absolutely brilliant in the
second half.'
Weaver made a flying save to keep out a 25-yard Veliche Shumulikoski rocket
and then dived low to his left to keep out Pablo Counago’s 69th minute penalty.
