Magilton praises two-goal Stead
Jon Stead justified his return to the Ipswich side, having been left on the
bench for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Chelsea, by scoring his first two away
goals of the season inside the first 10 minutes.
Kevin Lisbie set up both, laying the ball back for Stead to drill in on eight
minutes, then flicking on for keeper Heinz Muller and Dennis Souza to get
in a tangle as the loose ball bounced in off Stead.
Ipswich boss Jim Magilton said: ‘We showed our quality in the first half
and our grit in the second.’
Barnsley scored their first goal of 2009 through Daniel Bogdanovic two minutes
after the break but manager Simon Davey said: ‘We weren’t at the races and
the lost the game in the first half.’
