Roy Keane frustrated by keeper Lee Grant
Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant produced a stunning individual display
to virtually single handedly deny Ipswich their second win of the season.
Roy Keane's struggling team seemed certain to make it successive home wins
following victory over Derby but Grant stood firm with a string of vital saves.
Ipswich were generally restricted to hopeful long range efforts in a low
key first half, with Grant showing his pedigree with an eye catching stop
to push away winger Lee Martin's wonderfully struck shot after 31 minutes.
Wednesday, now without a win in five games, were even more woeful than Ipswich
although striker Marcus Tudgay belatedly brought the best out of Ipswich's
Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with a brilliant 33rd minute volley.
Ipswich showed far greater urgency in the second half with Leadbitter firing
narrowly wide and Grant then pulling off brave saves in quick succession to
keep out shots from midfielder Owen Garvan and substitute Alan Quinn.
Grant somehow blocked a close range shot from striker Jon Walters following
a corner before finally frustrating substitute Jon Stead.
