ROBERT KOREN WANTS CREATIVE ROLE
ROBERT KOREN is Hull’s top scorer this season, but he would rather be creating
chances than putting them away.
The Slovenia international took his tally to four with the winner against
Ipswich, but the 30-year-old says his job is playmaker, not poacher.
He said: “Unfortunately, we don’t have any strikers who have scored many goals,
but, in the future, I hope they will put this right and start scoring.
“It’s not in my mind, to score as many goals as possible. I’m more of a midfield
player and I have a job to do for the team – to make sure we are playing good
football.
“I’m not thinking about individual statistics. I’m not bothered about that.”
Hull have one of the weakest attacks in the Championship and have failed to
score in five of their nine home games this season.
It looked like being the same old story when Kevin Kilbane and Ian Ashbee both
hit the woodwork within 30 seconds late in the first half.
But Koren popped up with a 25-yard stunner in the 77th minute to help the Tigers
claim their first back-to-back wins in more than two years.
Ipswich boss Roy Keane said: “When you’re not winning matches, pressure builds
from within.
“It comes from within the dressing room because the players’ pride is hurt.”
