Ipswich Town 2 Swindon Town 1
Super sub Danny Sonner hit the winner eight minutes from time as Ipswich came from a goal down to beat Swindon at Portman Road.
Wayne Allison had given the visitors the lead half-way through the first half, but Mark Venus equalised after 36 minutes.
Sonner had shown his intention with a tremendous 35 yard shot which Frazer Digby tipped onto the crossbar and away for a corner.
And the Irish B international then finished off a move involving Mark Venus and Mark Stein by hitting a low 20 yard drive into the net to give Ipswich their first win of the season.
It was also a glorious night for Sonner's fellow sub Alex Mathie. He was returning after an 11-month injury lay off because of surgery on both shoulders.
Swindon livened the game up with a 23rd minute goal. Simon Milton was booked for a heavy tackle on Mark Walters near a corner flag the kick went back to Walters who crossed for Wayne Allison to nod home from one yard.
Ipswich equalised courtesy of a beautifully curled free kick from Venus after James Scowcroft was fouled in the edge of the area.
Swindon had a goal disallowed when Allison's tussle to get clear of Matt Holland was penalised as he shot low past Richard Wright.
Simon Milton was fortunate to stay on when his late and high tackle on Mark Seagrave went unpunished after he had earlier been booked for the foul on Walters which led to the goal.
Digby made a series of good saves, including a magnificent one-handed stop to turn Stein's close range effort wide.
