Ipswich 1-1 Doncaster
Ipswich and Doncaster took a share of the spoils in a low-key Championship
encounter at Portman Road.
It was a drab affair that seemed destined to remain goalless until Connor
Wickham capitalised on some poor Doncaster defending to put Ipswich ahead.
But the home side’s lead lasted only 11 minutes, as Doncaster’s Dean Shiels
sent goalkeeper Brian Murphy the wrong way with a spot-kick awarded after
he was pushed over by Shane O’Conner.
It was The Tractor Boys’ 11th home draw of the season, but they have been
defeated just once in their last 17 games.
Doncaster looked the more threatening early on, with Arsenal loanee Jay Emmanuel-Thomas
looking dangerous and the home side offering very little as an attacking force.
Eventually, though, Ipswich began to play with purpose and Wickham’s goal
was a real opportunist’s effort.
As the Doncaster defence dawdled on the ball, wasting the chance to clear,
Wickham sneaked in to finish coolly past Neil Sullivan.
