Roy Keane watched his Ipswich flops plummet again and declared: “There’ll be no gallivanting this summer.”

The ex-Sunderland promotion winner has had a wretched first full season at Portman Road and admits that club owner Marcus Evans has: “Given me the benefit of the doubt.”

The one-time Manchester United midfield icon will not be allowing his players or backroom staff to sit on beaches for too long.

“I’m not a one for long summer breaks. I won’t be taking a long break, why should anyone else,” barked Keane.

“We don’t deserve long holidays and right now I’m going to get on the phone to begin planning for next season.

My work starts right now and the biggest bill the club will be getting from me this summer is the phone bill.”

Keane felt that the dismal display yesterday was in a way beneficial to him in the recovery plan at a club that have hoovered near the bottom of the Championship all season.

“A good display might have clouded the issue over one or two. This result marks my card properly regarding certain players,” he said.

Of the game he declared: “Some of our decision making was shocking. The last half hour was particularly awful.”

Victorious United boss Kevin Blackwell said: “To finish eighth in the table is a terrific achievement. It’s been a season of loans and too many injuries.

“There have been so many frustrations for everyone at the club and we hope to be pushing strongly for promotion next time around.”

Marvellous Mark Yeates destroyed Ipswich as United roared to a first away win in the new decade and the biggest away triumph of the season.

The home side were not helped by having debutant defender Tom Eastman sent off for two fouls just before the hour mark.

But dashing wide left man Yeates, signed from Middlesbrough for £500,000 in January, scored a cracker of a solo effort himself and made the other two for Ched Evans and Richard Cresswell.

United took the lead after 34 minutes when Yeates let fly from from the edge of the area with a rasping rising drive at the end of a darting run between defenders.

Ched Evans made it two on 56 minutes after a break down the left by the inspired Yeates.

The left sided raider whipped over a cross on the run and Evans met it to crash home a stunning stop from the edge of the box.

Richard Cresswell made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute. Once again Yeates was in the thick of the action.

This time the fair haired flier came in from the left to shoot strongly. Ipswich keeper Brian Murphy could only palm the ball up into the air. It came off the bar and Cresswell headed in.
