Match Report

Another draw

The nations of Wales, Spain, Algeria, Iceland, England, Finland, France, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Norway, Canada and Holland were all represented in the Town line-up for last nights friendly against Belgian Cup holders SV Zulte-Waregem.

Joining the Town squad following Monday's draw in Tilburg where trialist's Menari Medhi and Marko Kolsi, Algerian and Finnish U-21 internationals respectively.

Both side's struggled in the exceptionally hot conditions, and goals chance were few and far between before Town took the lead through Ian Westlake in the 41st minute. Darren Currie's cross from the right was met by Westlake who headed home at the far post.

SV equalised in the 56th minute when Aliyo Datti scrambled the ball over the line after Lewis Price in the Town goal looked to have been impeded, but the referee was having none of the Welsh international 'keepers furious protest and the goal stood.

An at times petulant affair, which saw cautions for Ian Westlake, Danny Haynes and Marko Kolsi, could have been settled by Nicky Forster towards the end of the ninety minutes, but his long range effort was well saved by Merlier in the SV goal.
