Born 1888. Debuts for Dumbarton (1907). Transferred to Newcastle United (1908). Wins League Championship Medal and FA Cup Winners Medal in consecutive season's (1909 and 1910). Joins Glasgow Rangers (1913). Completes a unique double during the First World War when he guests for Glasgow Celtic. Managerial apprenticeship served at Hamilton Academicals and Cowdenbeath before taking the helm at Manchester United in 1932. Wins the Second Division Title in 1936. Appointed Town manager in 1937 and becomes Towns first Football League Manager when they are elected to the Football League for the 1937/38 Season. Wins Division Three (South) Championship in 1954. Steps down as Manager in 1955 but stays with the club as Secretary for a further three years before retiring to Scotland. Dies aged 88 (1976). (2003-12-15)

Paul (Man Utd): Just a couple of minor points: He wasn`t in the Newcastle FAC winning side of 1910, and he died on October 3 1976 aged 87. All the best for the remainder of the season. (2008-01-18)
