Beauford Haste was my father. He was born in Chelmondiston, Suffolk in 1901. He played football with his brother Herbert 'Sonny' Haste for Ipswich Works Football Club in the 1920s. As a young player he was seriously injured [smashed knee] and his father Joseph Haste burnt his football boots telling him he should never play football again. With his other brother, William, they ran a motor engineering business in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe. Haste & Sons. He married Olwyn Reynolds in the 1920s. He was Chairman of the Felixstowe Urban District Council in 1950/1. In the mid 1950s he went to Theological College in Bristol and after his ordination became vicar of Henley and Hemingstone, Suffolk. In 1971 he retired to Felixstowe. He died at Croutel Road, Felixstowe in 1980.
