Dukes, a goalkeeper, made 17 appearances for the Town during their Southern Amateur League Championship season of 1933/34 before joining Norwich in August 1934.

Played in City's final league match of the short lived 1939-40 season that was cancelled due to the outbreak of WWII.

Guested for both Brentford and Fulham during the hostilities before rejoining Norwich and going on to make 124 appearances for the Canaries.

Also played for Sleaford, Martlesham, Melton, Orwell Works, Bedford Town and Guildford.
