Danny Haynes, then at the Charlton Athletic Academy, had trialled for the Norwich U19's in a game against Birmingham City on March 13th. Just over two weeks later, on April 3rd, he played for the Town U-19's, also against Birmingham, and impressed enough in that game to be one of nine new inductees into the Ipswich Academy at the end of the month. Seven months later and the Canaries get the first glimpse of what they had missed out on as Haynes scores the Blue's goal in a 1-1 draw against the Norwich U-18's at City's Colney training ground.

Danny scores his second derby goal in the 4th minute of this Academy League fixture to sink the Canary U-18's in a 1-0 win at Playford Road.
Danny takes to the field as a sub in the 84th minute as the Reserves are held to a goal less draw at Carrow Road.

The 3,268-strong Portman Road crowd were still settling into their seats when Danny Haynes' cross found Billy Clarke who beat Canaries keeper Joe Lewis with a well hit shot from just inside the box. The 4th minute goal proved to be the winner.
A comprehensive victory for Town reserves at Portman Road. Ian Westlake, Danny Haynes and Jaime Peters all netting in a 3-0 win. Haynes latches on to a long ball from Aidan Collins, and takes a single touch before firing home. His 60th minute strike is derby goal number three.
Haynes makes a huge impact in his first senior derby as a 26th minute substitute. The home side had taken the lead through Jonatan Johansson but 10 minutes after coming on for Gavin Williams, Haynes is fouled on the edge of the area and Jimmy Juan drives home the equaliser from the resulting free-kick. With just minutes remaining Haynes bundles home the winner with what appears to be his arm! At the Barclay End.
Danny returns for more goal scoring action at Carrow Road, this time for the Reserves, putting the Blue's ahead after ten minutes. Again at the Barclay End, but this time with his foot. He wins his second away derby for Town in the space of two months with a 64th minute penalty.
The derby goal specialist strikes again in a 3-0 rout of the Canaries second string at Playford Road. He converts a 10th penalty after being fouled in the area by Spillane and takes his goals tally against the Canaries to eight at all levels with sharp turn and low shot to beat 'keeper Camp on 51.

His second senior derby, and ninth at all levels, Danny scores twice to help record the Blue's first win over the Canaries at Portman Road since the Alex Mathie and Bobby Petta inspired 5-0 thrashing in 1998. Sylvain Legwinski had equalised Luke Chadwick's goal to take the teams in level at the half. Haynes enters the fray as a 77th minute sub and puts Town ahead just two minutes later powering home Gary Roberts cross. To add icing to the cake he gets a second in injury time, Matt Richards laying off the ball for Danny to curl home a glorious shot from the edge of the area.
No eleventh derby goal for Danny yet, although had he been able to control Alan Lee's 78th minute nod down, shortly after coming on for Jaime Peters, we may well have been celebrating a double over the Canaries for the first time since the 1992-93 season.
Just two minutes after Town 'keeper Andrew Plummer had saved a Canaries spot kick, Dean Bowditch's pass is picked up by Haynes, who beats a defender and then hits a low shot into the bottom corner of the Norwich net. Danny's 11th goal against Norwich puts Town one-up.
Replaces Sylvain Legwinski for the last fifteen minutes of a frantic 2-2 draw.
Danny bags his twelfth goal against the Canaries at all levels as a commanding Town side take all three points. The goal comes in the 39th minute when he latches on to a through ball from Pablo Counago and slots the ball home past City goalkeeper David Marshall.
