Following the Marcus Evans takeover in January 2008 the Club has been run by two boards, the overall football club board and a PLC board controlling the 12.5% owed by the club’s previous shareholders. Details on this page refer to the overall football club board.

Marcus Evans, a businessman with links to Bury St Edmunds, is believed to be 43-years-old (in 2009), with an estimated personal fortune of £400M. His company marcus evans (founded in 1983) runs global summits, strategic conferences, and professional training. In 2007, Evans took an 87.5 per cent share in the football club, purchasing it’s £32 million debts and making £12 million available in funds for new players. The deal was finalised at an EGM in December, 2007, with Ipswich Town Football Club officially becoming part of his portfolio the following month.

CLEGG Simon OBE MBE

Clegg was the public face of the British Olympic Association for almost 20 years. A former Army Major, his tenure as chief exec of the BOA coincided with a dramatic improvement in the performance of the British team, which culminated in a record-breaking medal haul at the Beijing Games in the summer of 2008.
