Ipswich brought in Mick McNeil as an extra defender for the visit to league leaders Leeds, and with Laurie Sivell outstanding they gained an unexpected point. On the one occasion Leeds beat Sivell, through Jack Charlton in the 87th minute, Peter Morris headed the ball clear. Town almost stole victory in the last minute, Jimmy Robertson`s shot crashing down off the underside of the bar and bouncing very close to the line. Since it came at the end of a lightning-fast breakaway, neither the referee nor the linesman was in a position to judge whether a goal should be awarded. More

A rugged, chaotic match with three untidy goals. Palace were awarded a penalty when the ball hit Bobby Bell`s hand as he fell; John Sewell converted. Colin Viljoen`s shot bobbled through John Jackson`s hands and legs. And Billy Baxter`s clearance hit Steve Kember on the back and rebounded into the net. More
