An Ipswich Town supporter since my first visit to the club's Portman Road ground in 1968 I have in the past decade become the (un)official historian for the club through my work on the Pride of Anglia website.
Just a few months after Town's epic 1980-81 season - a campaign that saw the team win the UEFA Cup and come agonisingly close to capturing the English Football League title - I was transferred to my employers Chicago headquarters.
The timing could not have been better as it coincided with the Chicago Sting's run in to their first NASL title. In fact sport in Chicago during the six years that I lived in Illinois was a bit special as the Sting's '81 title was followed by a second in '84, the Cubs won the National League East pennant for the first time that same year and the Bears won Super Bowl XX early in '86.
The Sting managed to survive the demise of the NASL in '84, but only for a few years before sadly dissolving in '88, but I still hold great memories of my regular visits to Comiskey Park, Wrigley Field and the Chicago Stadium to watch them in outdoor and indoor action.
This site is dedicated to the former players and staff of the Sting.
